We will review the many areas where we can complement your team including system configuration, training, panel design & construction, and digital bus design. We will also review our instrumentation services which can include valve commissioning, outage management, loop optimization and asset management.

DeltaV SIS - How Safe Is Your Plant? by Leo Bello

More than ever, running your plant productively and safely requires the right technologies and experience. With increasingly stringent regulations and international-standard best practices, safety instrumented systems perform a critical role in providing safer, more reliable, process operations. Join us to learn more!

Managing Your Legacy DCS by Gordon Lawther

If you have an automation system that is 10, 20 or even 30 years old, you will likely be facing some decisions in the near future that will determine your control systems direction for the next 10 to 20 years. Consoles, controllers, I/O modules, software and wiring are in various stages of reaching end-of-life. Emerson and REM can help you with modernization planning and offers an array of products and services to enable a phased approach to migration in steps that make sense for you. This presentation will highlight Emerson's migration solutions and show you how risks can be minimized when switching to a PlantWeb digital automation architecture.

Guardian Support - Maximize Your Investment by Aaron Shaw & Bob Wiggins

Are you responsible for the availability, sustainability and performance of a DeltaV or PROVOX System? This session will show you how successful system administrators manage their system(s) using Guardian. Guardian aggregates and securely delivers personalized, real-time service intelligence tailored specifically to your systems. In this workshop we will have live access to Guardian via the web and may even use your system as an example if you will allow us. This session will focus on tips, techniques and best practices to help you minimize system downtime and ensure the system availability your plant needs. Concepts will include getting the most from Guardian to proactively ensure system uptime, and pointers on staying ahead in effectively performing system management tasks.

Planning Your DeltaV Upgrade by Mark Moore

Ensuring a successful upgrade of your DeltaV Process Control System requires a significant investment in planning, preparation, and careful execution. This informative course will provide you with an upgrade planning checklist and recommendations on the best practices for planning a DeltaV upgrade. We will discuss upgrade prerequisites, hardware & software requirements, 3rd party applications concerns, risk assessment and mitigation planning, resource requirements, test plans...and many others.

Risk Management - Critical Data Backup and Recovery by Mark Moore

When was the last time you backed up your process control system? If you lost a hard drive, how long would it take to return to normal operation and what would it cost you? What are you backing up? Control Database? Graphics? Historian Data? Other Important Data and files? The purpose of this session is to give you ideas for developing a backup and recovery plan before it is needed. In addition this session will help you evaluate how much protection and how comprehensive a strategy you will need based on the risk you are willing to take. How quickly and effectively your system can be returned to normal operation after a failure or multiple failures can directly affect your production, quality and cost.

Data to Information - Information to Knowledge by Bruce Greenwald

The amount of data produced on a daily basis in any manufacturing facility is staggering. The sources of all this data include not only DeltaV, but PLC's, LIMS systems, scheduling packages, even the internet. The types of data include continuous, batch, alarms, and events. The key is making sense of all this data is to turn the data into information, and finally, turn the information into knowledge. Different methods and tools for becoming knowledgeable about your plant will be discussed.

Cyber Security - Are You at Risk? by Frank Navarro

As plant automation systems become increasingly integrated with other enterprise systems, keeping the process secure has become a top concern. Both malicious and unintentional security breaches are cause for attention when it comes to keeping the plant safe while also producing maximum value. In this session, the details of keeping a system secure and functional are covered with specific examples pertaining to DeltaV.

DeltaV Batch Update by Dawn Marruchella

In today’s world, it’s important to manufacture products consistently and to be able to generate the necessary documentation. DeltaV Batch gives customers the ability to do both. The release of DeltaV version 10 will includes many new features for batch users in both the regulated and non-regulated environments. Come and join the session to gain a detailed look at the new features.

AMS and Fieldbus - What's Next? by Larry Wolfe

DeltaV V9.3 and AMS V9.0 complete the separation of the Foundation Fieldbus device configuration and management functionality. With DeltaV V9.3 AMS Inside DeltaV for Foundation Fieldbus is no longer installed as an integral part of the DeltaV software. AMS Intelligent Device Manager must be installed to support Foundation Fieldbus (and HART devices if adequate license tag count is provided). The DeltaV Explorer provides menu links to the same device management options as the AMS menus. This workshop will discuss the functionality these changes provide and what might be expected in the future.

Operator Training Solutions by Jeff Hackney

This presentation will detail Emerson's unique Operator Training Solutions focus on a complete training program developed from an educational perspective vs. the conventional simulation only approach. Our DeltaV OTS team employs a suite of Emerson products and services along with process-specific courseware and DeltaV Simulate to deliver world-class operator training solutions. In addition to Emerson's DeltaV OTS this presentation will cover Emerson's new high fidelity Bio-Reactor model which can be used for training as well PAT (Process Analytical Technologies).

MiMiC Version 3, Next Generation Simulation Software by Martin Berutti

DeltaV users can save significant time and money by incorporating simulation into automation projects and Operational Excellence initiatives. The presentation will cover how to MiMiC Simulation Software for automation system software acceptance testing and operator training. The following topics will be covered:

  • Proven business for off-line simulation systems
  • Capabilities of MiMiC v3 Simulation Software
  • Review of DeltaV / MiMiC Simulation System architectures
  • How to get your simulation up and running

PLC Integration by Martin Berutti

Industrial Ethernet is quickly becoming the standard for plant floor integration with DeltaV. Learn how to integrate PLC's and other 3rd party devices that support the Modbus TCP/IP or Ethernet/IP protocols using the DeltaV Virtual IO Module. The following topics are covered.

  • Architecture of Industrial Ethernet Integration with DeltaV
  • Capabilities and functionality of the Modbus TCP/IP and Ethernet/IP protocol.
  • Supported devices.
  • Setup of the Industrial Ethernet Networks.
  • Configuration of Modbus TCP/IP and Ethernet/IP data in DeltaV Explorer.

Valve Automation by Ed Butler

Learn more about extending your control system beyond the I/O Card. From 4-20mA, HART, ASi, or Foundation Fieldbus get more out of your automated on-off valves. reduce maintenance costs and improve uptime between turnarounds by learning and applying knowledge beyond the rack, after all the valve is what touches the process- not the wires.

Increase Efficiency with Electronic Records by Jonathan Lustri

Managing paper work is widely understood to be an inefficient process to assure product quality. This presentation looks at how replacing paper with electronic systems to guide manufacturing delivers more cost effective manufacturing.
